Happy Pumpkin Picking!

Shadybrook Farm is having their annual PumpkinFest in Yardley until October 28th. My husband and I took our son who is 2 1/2 to the farm on Saturday to pick a pumpkin and it was so much more fun then I even thought it would be! Last year, we stopped by the farm on our way home from school and had a great time shopping in the store and picking out pumpkins from the stand. This year, we decided to stop by on a Saturday to see what all the fuss was about.

There was food, ponies, hayrides, inflatable amusements, and there was even a haunted house for the little ones. After cheking out some farm animals and taking a bunch of pictures, we hopped a ride on the little train, then off to the hayride. My son was so excited, he didn't know what was going on, but he liked bopping around on the ride.

The tractor let us out in the pumpkin patch. The field was chock full of giant pumpkins, ripe and waited to be plucked and taken home for pie! It was my first time in the pumpkin patch and I kept thinking of that Charlie Brown special. Several of the other hay-riders knew exactly what they were aiming for and headed out to get the biggest pumpkins they cound find.

We picked out 2 small pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. No great pumpkins here, Linus, my son could carry these himself. We got back on the hayride and it took us the whole way around the pumpkin patch. Then the tractor pulled us back to the Pumpkin Fest and my son wanted to ride a pony, so how could we refuse?

It was my first visit to PumpkinFest, but definately not my last. Next time I will not eat lunch before I go because they had some yummy Pennsylvania Dutch food. And next time I want to take a stab at the corn maze too. We paid for our little pumpkins and said goodby. Before my son fell asleep in the car he said, "I had a good time at the farm."
